Congratulations to Aishani Nagamalla and Leo Nordell!!! In May, EGMS teachers made a quick stop to each of their homes to celebrate and congratulate their accomplishments! Best of luck to Leo and Aishani in the future!
Genevieve Corricelli wrote a wonderful poem as an enrichment project for Mrs. Munsell! The goal of the project was to be an extension of new vocabulary work in the course. Enjoy!
A few of our students and families came by to do some gardening outside the greenhouse!
Throughout the past month, some of our teachers from Grade 7 met with some of our students to check in and give some live feedback.

"Pablo", the betta fish on the right, is the "team fish" that used to reside in Mr. Dorr's classroom. He needed a new home during the distance learning initiative. Luckily, my youngest son Emmet was happy to adopt him and pair him up with his own betta fish "Aqua" (on the left). As you may know, male fish from the Betta splendens species are very aggressive to each other (and sometimes to mirror images of themselves!). For that reason, we have a divide between the two fish. I thought the 6th graders and Mr. Dorr would like to see that Pablo is in good hands!
Students in 7th grade social studies created projects on the region of Southeast Asia's land & climate, people & culture or economies & government. Students were provided with a number of options- both digital and away from the screen to demonstrate their learning and research. Hannah B made a children's book! It's amazing! Here are a few pages from the project.
Many EGMS students completed an activities to celebrate Earth Day last week. Some even had some unexpected guests! Please check out the photo and description from one of our eighth graders, Kieran Beman:
"For my earth day activity I chose to watch an animal. Luckily enough for me, a bear showed up at my dad's house and stayed around for about an hour. When the bear showed up he just kind of trotted around the yard, not really looking for anything particular. Eventually he made his way to the left side of our backyard where he found the chicken coop. He kept circling the coop looking for an entrance, occasionally getting spooked by a chicken flapping its wings or making a noise. A few times he stood straight up and put his huge paws on the side of the coop, but still couldn’t find a way in. He gave up and went into the woods, to quickly circle back to the chicken coop. "

While we don't get to see our friends in the classroom, we DO get to learn with our siblings in the comfort of our own homes! Check out some of our family photos of Distance Learning below.
It's important to stay active during this time. Look below to see what some our students have been doing!
One of the nice things we have in this experience is the ability to work with our family pets. Check out some of our students demonstrating their at home learning experiences with their furry friends below!
