Many thanks to Robyn Triblets and Jake Schlagenhauf for starting our mornings every day from the end of January through March! These twqo did a great job waking us up!
We had an amazing team of educators from EGMS join a population of over 400 teachers and administrators from all over New England at the NELMS conference right up the road in Springfield, MA! We learned so much about trust building, social emotional learning in the classroom, restorative practices, and trauma informed teaching. So many smiles and laughs were shared by all, and we've been sharing our learning with our teams at EGMS.
From L to R: Kevin Iapachino-Dorr, Tim Phelan, John Langan, Kate Stewart, Olivia Petersen, and Lori Nelson
Mrs. Provencher's class did some creative work in their math classes by producing acrostic poems about different mathematical terms.

A message from Dr. Faulkner:
Dear Students, Parents, and Administrators,
Thank you to everyone who made this year's Invention Convention Club fun and successful. We had a terrific group of students in the after-school club this winter. Congratulations to all the participants who worked so hard. In the end, we had five students complete and present their projects to the judges yesterday. The four judges were Mrs. Bavaro-Grande, Mr. Phelan, Mr. Langan, and Mr. Gustafson. After thoughtful consideration, the judges selected our three top winners, all of whom will be going on to the CT Invention Convention regional competition. They are:
In third place, McKenzie Cormier for her Non-Shatter Wrap, which protects plates against breaking when dropped
In second place, Kayla Lengel for her Page Tracker, which is a bookmark that keeps track of your current page in a book
And in first place, 9th grader Varshny Sriganesh for her YAAD, a digitally-timed medication dispenser
Congratulations to all the participants, and good luck to our three winners at the next level of competition!

Students learned fun facts about Spain today! Did you know that Spain is the only European country that shares a physical border with Africa? Or that the tooth fairy is a mouse named Ratoncito Perez? Well, neither did they! But after so much trivia, a video on flamenco dancing, and a tasty snack (our version of tapas), they settled in to create watercolor versions of Gaudi glass that is featured in La Sagrada Familia Church in Barcelona. There was glitter everywhere and smiles galore.
