To all East Granby Middle School Students, from intelligence, we have recently discovered that the local 4-H Team for the “Robotics Over Under” event has won the finals! Congrats to our EGMS members of the 4-H Robotics team, Andrew Houghton and Trevor Plaisted, for a job well done on winning the local tournament. With the win, their team has advanced to regionals, which will be held in Framingham, MA at the end of February. Nice job, Andrew and Trevor!
Madeline Lundell and Talon Sacristan did a phenomenal job getting our days started with the Pledge of Allegiance and the latest EGMS news to share!

In the final day of General Music on Wednesday, January 24, the class performed "Royal Blues". Students learned to play the melody, bass line and three chords and encompassed all six strings of the guitar. Click on the picture below to hear the video!
Mrs. Petersen had a guest teacher come from the high school to teach our students about the history of hip hop as her capstone project! Ashley did a wonderful job engaging the students and sharing her passion for music.
Mr. Berardy's club has a LOT of energy to share every Tuesday at Gaming Club! I laugh when I hear the "LET'S GO!!!!!" through my office wall.
From Dr. Faulkner:
"The trout have hatched and are startingto swim. They are getting the nourishment from theri egg sacks. Once they have used up the egg sacks, we will start feeding them and let them go into the big tank. They get lots of attention from the 8th graders."
"Since our classroom traditionally does exceptionally well raising fish, they gave us even more extra eggs this year. This way, if another school has a tank failure we're the"foster" tank to help them out. How many did we get, you ask? Usually the Atlantic Salmon Association gives schools 100 eggs; we received 300. And the usual delivery of trout eggs is 100 or 200; they gave us 460. That's a LOT of baby fish! The students are going to be very busy caring for them this year!"
Mrs. Corey's sewing club is getting their PJs ready for pajama day on Monday the 29th!
Ms. Gilbert's theater class is working on their culminating project for the class as the quarter comes to a close on January 24! Students learn how to write, direct, act, reheasrse, and light up the stage. We can't wait to see the final perofmrances during 5th period next week!
The auditorium was PACKED on Wednesday, 1/17! Congratulations to the EGMS Band and Chorus for putting on a great show! Special thanks to Ms. Chaloux and Ms. Gilbert for doing such a great job preparing our students!
The fish have arrived in 8th grade! Or more accurately, the fish EGGS have arrived. We received 200 Atlantic salmon eggs as part of the salmon restoration program, and 460 (!!!!) brown trout eggs from the DEEP. The 8th graders will raise these tiny fish in class this winter and release them in Salmon Brook on a field trip in spring. We even had a special guest make the delivery - East Granby Board of Education Chair and retired 8th grade science teacher, Mr. Bob Paskewicz!
Our sixth graders were baking cookies in Mrs. Corey's FACS class! I was walking by while the door was open and followed the scent.
The second meeting of Friendship Club took place this week. Students made rope bracelets for each other, played a fun game, built clay representations of friendship, and played a juggling game with light sticks and balloons. The students spent the afternoon laughing, talking, and enjoying each others company.
