As of this moment (11:47AM on March 16), buildings are closed through March 31... Stay safe, stay productive, read often... and maintain your social distance!!!
Our students (and some parents!) helped the trout get back to their natural environment in preparation for an extended departure from the building for a while. It was a great way to end an interesting week!
On March 13th students celebrated Read Across America Day by wearing wacky tacky wear, reading books, and playing the vocab word game. Students were really excited about their words and truly enjoyed the day! We even had some "Read Across France" occurring. Thank you to everyone who participated!
The 8th graders were having a little fun with the classroom skeleton (named Charlie) in science class with Dr. Faulkner. It appeared as though Charlie wanted to go outside...
Parents, thank you in advance for observing the posted speed limit to ensure that our students and faculty are safe in our parking lot. Please check out our speed limit sign with its attached solar-powered radar... it's located on our driveway near the pond! We do also appreciate our local law enforcement watching our school and parking lot from the top of the hill.
Students are doing hands-on work in Mr. Langan's class! This week, they were comparing the melting points of various lipids, including soaps and fats. Check it out!
Madame Ash’s French Exploratory class researched francophone painters and attempted to recreate famous works of art. They combined art, art history, and cultural research all in one project!
The students are trying yoga as they look into different ideas for which type of learner they are and how to best prepare for the school day.
The groups researched, shared and presented their findings on food borne illnesses today. We start cooking this coming week.
Madame Ash’s French Discovery and French 1 classes celebrated Mardi Gras. Various students cooked traditional francophone dishes, decorated masks, danced to zydeco music and learned the history surrounding Mardi Gras.
8th Grade students perform yoga and mindfulness activities at the beginning of class to help encourage social, emotional and physical health and wellness in the classroom. Research shows that performing activities like this helps to facilitate student engagement in the classroom.
These four 7th graders have been practicing and preparing to perform in our annual Pops Concert as members of the Color Guard. The performance takes place on Friday, March 6th.
Check out some of the work by our 8th graders below! While some of them are working on a video for the Green Team's recycling initiative, others are continuing their work on their product for Invention Convention.
Are you the Super Bowl Next Nutritionist?
In Ms. Jones' health class, students had the task of creating a healthy energizing snack full of nutrients to help keep the athletes on the San Francisco 49ers or the Kansas City Chiefs stamina up throughout the big game. Giving their best sales pitch, they were trying to persuade their peers to choose them as the teams next nutritionist.
On Wednesday, February 5, all of our EGMS students and teachers worked with RGH to learn strategies on identifying life stresses and the mechanisms we can use to cope with them.
On Friday, January 31, 2020, East Granby Middle School and High School collaborated on a large sports mob athletic event for Boys' Basketball against East Windsor. Activities included a EGMS 3-on-3 basketball tournament along with other games and activities to raise money for some charitable causes in our East Granby Community.
