September Students of the Month

Grade Six Hallway - Positivity

During lab, a few of our students took it upon themselves to share a message of positivity with their peers on their lockers! It was a great way to give everyoen a pick-me-up!

CT Teacher of the Year Finalist - Mrs. Olivia Petersen

We are overjoyed and excited to celebrate Mrs. Petersen, our 7th grade Social Studies teacher, who is one of FOUR finalists for the title of 2024 Connecticut State Teacher of the Year!!! We have a committee of 20+ individuals from the CT Department of Education joining us on Wednesday, September 27th to learn more about her, our school, and her amazing impact on our school community! We wish her the best and have high hopes for her success in this final round.

8th grade Science

The two butterflies that eclosed (hatched) today were not ready to be released by the end of the school day, so they traveled home with Dr. Faulkner to be tagged and released in the garden where they were born. We'll share their tag numbers as part of the Citizen Science program for monarch migration studies.

7th Grade Science

In Mr. Hurlburt's 7th Grade Science class, students were creating microscope slides of objects around them. Check out this image of a mosquito from under the lens!

EGMS Advisory - Restorative Circles

Every two weeks, students get together in their advisory groups to have an opportunity to connect with adults on the faculty and staff. Our focus in these groups is most often related to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). This week's focus was about using restorative circles to learn about each other as a foundation for future problem solving in school and in interpersonal relationships amongst peers.

Grade 7 REMIS

Each week, Grade 7 teachers present awards to our students for their Respect, Empathy, Manners, Initiative, and Scholarship. Check out who the winners were last week!

EGMS Talent Show Club

Kelly Zils (Grade 6 SpEd Teacher) is the advisor to a new club that is designed to get interested students ready for a talent show on November 9, 2023! Click on the picture to hear her amazing advertisement from this morning's announcements!

Cooking Lab - Grades 6&7

Grade 7 tried their hand at using the electric skillet to make grilled cheese sandwiches, and grade 6 made super tasty french toast!

Grade 6 General Music

One picture features color-by-code for rhythm identification by the current 6th Grade General Music class. Students colored each picture based on the color chart for the various notated rhythms. The second picture is the song lyric bulletin board put up Ms. Chaloux.

Grade 8 - Class Photo and ELA

Mrs. Rowe is doing some silent sustained reading in Mrs. Stewart's lab class.

Grade 7 Math Lab

Ms. Dabrowski's students are studying and collaborating with Ms. Dewey's friend, "Oscar".

Grade 8 Physical Education

Mr. LeBlanc's students were playing Volleyball in PE class.

Grade 7 Science

Mr. Hurlburt's 7th Grade science class participated in a design and build challenge. The goal was to work cooperatively to create tower structures using only string to move the cups. (No Hands!)
