6th grade students budgeted and itemized what they would need to create an amazing Halloween Party. They researched costs, made calculations, presented their findings, and assessed each others' projects... all while some were still in costume! It was an ideal lesson in the spirit of mastery based learning, and the students had a lot of fun doing it.
Now through Friday, November 20, EGMS students will be collecting nonperishable items, toiletries, and monetary donations to help support families in need for Thanksgiving. To start the drive in the spirit of giving, EGMS students made some creative signs and fliers shown below!
We had a great today at EGMS! To kick off the Top Turkey Food Drive, we started with a fundraiser that allowed students to dress up in costume for a small donation. As you can see, we had a healthy mix of fun and getting the job done!
Our 8th graders completed a really cool project that is now on display on the wall near the EGMS Commons! In "8th Graders Unmasked", students made "Identity Self Portraits" by creating silhouettes of themselves and decorating them with collages of what's going on inside their heads. Great work!
We posted our school’s open house video link from each of our teachers on Thursday, 10/8. If you have not watched them yet, we highly encourage you to do so! Please go to the following link:
Check out some of the work the our 8th graders are doing in science class with Dr. Faulkner!
Before Ms. Rosenstein's eighth graders got down to business with MAP testing, they had a little yoga fun to lighten the mood and get in a positive mindset.
7th grade math students are working on their "Mini Me" project in which students are creating a scaled copy of themselves.
The greenhouse is now in business, with students 10' apart in pairs only during labs, giving them a chance for a mask break with the added ventilation in the greenhouse
Students have been working hard as they researched countries in Africa through the lens of the 5 Themes of Geography. Students then used their research to create and present to their class and teach us all about their country! At the end of each presentation students also shared an assessment with their peers on their project. Some students chose to present in class and other presented remotely in a google meet!
In PE we did an in person and virtual whole class game of Simon Says, and we have also been playing pickleball.
Congrats to Mia Hines (8th Grade), Nathan James (7th Grade), and Isaac Gaudette (6th Grade) for earning the first Student of the Month Certificates for 2020-2021!
Thank you to our four custodians from EGMS and EGHS for all of their hard work and efforts in making our building function and for keeping students and teachers safe every day during the Covid Pandemic! Special thanks to Craig, Jim, Leonard, and Larry!
6th Grade Band and Chorus students worked on keeping the beat and rhythms through dance as a fun Friday activity.
Here's the link to see it in motion!

Students in Mr. Tomala's 6th grade Social Studies class created pieces of art in commemoration of the anniversary of 9/11.
8th Graders are taking advantage of a gorgeous day outside while working on their math assignments and keeping social distance.
A message from Mrs. Corey:
"In Family Consumer Science we will be finishing the Culinary unit and moving on to Textiles so the students are able to try both sections of the course. Fabric should be brought in by the end of next week or they can choose from the school textile supplies by paying the lab fee of $3.00. We may return to the culinary lab at then end of the term if students complete their projects before November. They have done a great job cooking so far and we are going to be making Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars next week for a treat. Here is a recipe they can try in your home kitchen.

Enjoy! Mrs. Corey"
Our Team 7 Teachers have "Bitmoji-ed" themselves to communicate our school's expectations for students walking the halls of EGMS. Parents, please continue to urge our children to wear masks, wash hands, and stay physically spaced!
Congratulations to Alyana VanBeek, one of our 6th graders, who was the 2020 State Fire Prevention Poster Winner this year! We have a few of these posted in our hallways.
Mrs. Stewart's 8th grade ELA class took some time to enjoy the beautiful weather and read a real book. It was a great day to step out and get away from the screens for a bit!
In 7th grade Physical Education Class, students were working out at home and at school! Mr. Ziff displayed the Step Aerobic workout on the Smart Board, so that in class AND at home students could all participate "together".
Science classes were tracking data, making measurements, and observing scientific phenomena today at EGMS, and our online learners were able to observe or participate. Check out some of the work of the students and teachers!
Our 8th grade math teacher, Mrs. Provencher, is conducting a math lesson outside under the tree by the soccer fields!
In our 8th grade class, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Dr. Waller's students perform synchronous and asynchronous learning from the classroom in school AND at home on a "Cohort B" day! This is a great example of what our hybrid model looks like from the teacher's perspective.
Sometimes taking one of our mask breaks involves a little bit of fun and creativity. Check out some of EGMS students' art work on a sunny day during week one of school. As you can see, our students are very happy to be back!
As recommended by the State DoE in the "Adapt, Advance, Achieve" document, schools should use outdoor time as much as possible and as weather allows. On days like this one, our students space out and eat outside for a break between classes!
In 7th Grade Social Studies with Mrs. Petersen, students get to "see" each other in the hybrid format! We even have some small group instruction in the grid view. We're extremely proud of our teachers' efforts in making this work!
Some of our teachers work remotely and "teleteach"! Mr. Friedberg operates his coding class from his home while we have some of our building staff supervise the students in our building. This is just one more awesome way our teachers and students are making the hybrid model work at EGMS!
