Earlier in the school year, Abraham Deng spoke to our students and inspired them with his story as one of the Lost Boys of Sudan from "A Long Walk to Water". Our students were so moved by his story that they put together a fundraiser - "Pennies For Abraham" - to help support him in his hope to bring his family to the United States one day. One penny at a time in contest of penny wars between the three grades , our students were able to meet the goal of over $1400! Our students are very proud of their accomplishments in contributing to the global community this way, and Abraham was very grateful for him and his family!
Our EGMS students put on a great performance along with EGHS students in the combined band on parade day! Here are some pics of the band members that performed on Memorial Day!

It has been a busy spring in 7th grade Social Studies. Students have been working collaboratively on news skits in the studio with Mr. Friedberg to demonstrate their understanding of the monsoon climate in South Asia. Students also spent time analyzing primary and secondary sources and creating projects of their choice to demonstrate their research of countries in Southeast Asia.
Sam Forero has been playing guitar for about 2.5 months, and he's already learned the opening guitar riff to a classic that came out when the other guy in the photo was his age! Click on the picture to check out our very first jam session at the end of Ms. Chaloux's General Music class today.

In total, our school raised over $700 dollars!
