Welcome! Thursday, April 16

Goals for Today! Please make sure to READ through items 1-6! Thank you.

NOTE - For any Google Classroom Assignment, after you complete the assignment, make sure you "Turn it in" or "Submit" your work when you are done. Thank you!

1.) Begin work in Ever-Fi "ENDEAVOR"! This is a super cool program in which you will explore STEM careers connected to YOUR interests and aptitudes while practicing STEM concepts that are key for career readiness. Log-in your Ever-Fi account and choose "Endeavor". You can choose where to begin. There are SIX modules that you will complete. You have until Friday, April 24 to complete all 6 modules. Be sure to complete the "About Me Quiz" first! The goal is the same as last time....score a 70 or higher to get full credit. Since you have the time, I hope you will shoot for a 90 or higher on each module!

LOG-IN HERE-> https://platform.everfi.net/registration/login

2.) Go to your Google Classroom and begin the assignment on "Sound" through EdPuzzle. Please complete the assignment on Sound by this Friday. There are 8 questions to answer. Click on the link to get started. The video runs approximately 9 minutes. This is part of our unit on physical science, focusing on waves.

3.) Go to your Google Classroom and watch "How do germs get inside your body?" - Please watch this video BEFORE Friday, April 17. There is NO follow up assignment. This is simply to teach us about germs and what we can do to protect ourselves. Yes, you should make sure you watch the video. It is not optional.

4.) For the 4th marking period, your final grade for the marking period will be based on 1 through 5. A rubric is currently being developed and will be shared ASAP. For the marking period in science, the grading policy I have been using will continue to be used. Only the marking period grade will change. Thank you.

5.) I hope everyone had a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter!!!

6.) We are now in the 4th marking period. THERE WILL BE NO FINAL EXAMINATION THIS YEAR!

OFFICE HOURS! I am available via e-mail most of the time. The best hours to email me to get a very quick answer are in the morning between 8am-10am. Outside of these hours I will still respond as quick as possible. Thank you!

  • Take a "virtual field trip". See link next to the "Home" button. My advice is to try and take one virtual field trip each day and explore a new place! For this week, a great place to visit is: https://naturalhistory.si.edu/visit/virtual-tour The Smithsonian, National Museum of Natural History virtual tours allow visitors to take self-guided, room-by-room tours of select exhibits and areas within the museum from their desktop or mobile device. Visitors can also access select collections and research areas at our satellite support and research stations as well as past exhibits no longer on display.!

  • SCRATCH! A great program that is free to use! I know most students already have an account, but if not, you can get one for FREE! Here is a link to many activities you can begin work on. These are great to work on for the long-term. https://scratch.mit.edu/ideas?mc_cid=06a3f42013&mc_eid=a0c7a38a94

  • Contact me via email at bturnow@cmschools.org I promise I will do my best to get back to you ASAP. Please understand that are inboxes are very active as this is now our main forum of communication with administration, teachers, and students. Thank you for understanding.

START HERE!!!! - Welcome students and parents. I know we are know in uncharted territory and this is all new to us. My goal is to try and give your child the best science curriculum I can do remotely. I will post assignments for the week. The only thing required will be a science journal for some assignments. If your science journal is still in school, no worries. Just start a new one or use any paper you have. I will be available via email and will always respond ASAP. I am going to post all assignments here on my website as well as utilize Google Classroom. As of now, use Google Classroom for all assignments in science. See the link for Google Classroom on my website for Access. See the link on this site to get access to Google Classroom. Thank you and stay safe.
