Book Exchange:  Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Tuesday, November 7th, Day 4Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Monday, November 6th, Day 3.  Merci!


Home and School Meeting:  Sherwood School’s next Home and School Association meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:00 p.m. in the school’s Library.  All parents/guardians are invited to attend.


Hot off the Press!  Jersey Day:  All students of Sherwood School are invited to wear a jersey on Wednesday, November 8th in participation of School Sport Canada's National Jersey Day.  


Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Friday, November 10th, Day 1.


Remembrance Day Assembly:  Our class will be attending Sherwood School's annual Remembrance Day assembly on Friday, November 10th at 10:15 am.


Show and Share:  To complement our Early Numeracy exploration of Patterns, all students are invited to bring a pattern for Show and Share on Friday, November 10th.  Students can create a pattern using small objects (for example, Lego brick – marble, Lego brick – marble, Lego brick – marble) or can choose a pattern that already exists (for instance, on a t-shirt).  Kindly note that we learned that the elements of a pattern repeat at least 3 times.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to your child to describe their pattern in French:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici ma régularité.  C’est _____ (AB, AAB, ABB or ABC).  Merci! 


Parent-Teacher Interviews:  First term parent-teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th.  Kindly note that Sherwood School will be closed to students on Friday, November 24th.


Parent-Teacher Interview Online Booking System:  The online booking system to schedule parent-teacher interviews, School Appointments, will open Friday, November 10th at 9:00 am and close Saturday, November 18th at 9:00 pm.  The link is below:

Extended!  Home and School Christmas Wreath and Tree Fundraiser:  Sherwood School's Home and School Association is having a Christmas wreath and tree fundraiser.  All proceeds from the sales will support Home and School hosted activities as well as the new playground.  The fundraiser will close on Saturday, November 11th.  Kindly use the following link:

Wreaths are $30.00 each and can be picked up at the school on a Saturday morning to be determined in late November/early December.  Trees are $45.00 each and can be chosen at Smiths Christmas Tree Farm or the Canadian Tire parking lot during the month of December.  Tree certificates will be sent home with students the week of Monday, November 20th.


Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Tuesday, November 14th, Day 2.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week:


Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Axton and our first assistant will be Benjamin this week.


Theme:  This week, our theme will be Dinosaurs.  We will also touch on Remembrance Day too.


Assessment and Evaluation:  I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development again this week.  Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.


Class List:  Jackson will be starting at a new school.  I would like to wish him a successful first day and will miss him tremendously.  Jackson's classmates will be thinking of him too.


Eye See…Eye Learn! Program:  Kindly have your child take advantage of the Eye See … Eye Learn! Program before June 30th, 2023.  The Eye See … Eye Learn! program is an eye health and vision awareness program which provides one free eye exam and, if needed, one free pair of glasses to all Kindergarten students across P.E.I.  Please refer to the following link for further information:

Standard Size Backpack:  Kindly check that your child's backpack is of a standard size so that they can pack it up for afternoon dismissal as easily and independently as possible at school.


Winter Clothing:  Kindly ensure that your child is dressed warmly for outdoor recess every day, including snow pants, winter boots, a winter coat, a neck warmer/scarf, a hat and mittens/gloves.  Recess will be much more enjoyable for them if they are dressed appropriately for the weather.  Please remember to label all of your child's winter clothing as well.  Merci!


Independence:  Kindly have your child practice getting dressed in their winter clothing at home  so that they can get dressed for outdoor recesses and afternoon dismissal as easily and independently as possible at school.  Merci beaucoup!


Throughout our Winter theme, we will be talking about the following order to get dressed in winter clothing:


Extra Hat and Mittens/Gloves:  Kindly double-check that your child has an extra hat and an extra pair of mittens/gloves in their backpack each day.  Please remember to label them too!  Merci!
