Our class will be celebrating the upcoming summer break in a fun way each day this week and next.  All students are invited to participate in each "Summer Spirit Day"!

Library Book Return Deadline:  Kindly have your child return all of their overdue Library books as soon as possible.  A note indicating the title and author of their book(s) will be sent home in their communication duo tang in the coming days.  Merci beaucoup! 

Monday, June 17th, 2024 - Day 1

"Sherwood Cinema" Day:  Our class will have a blast watching Finding Nemo in French and snacking chips or popcorn.

Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 - Day 2

Hopscotch Day:  Our class will enjoy printing the numbers 1 to 10 as we play hopscotch outside.

Absence:  I will be absent on this date.  Madame Hélène Crevier will be replacing me for the day.  Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.

Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 - Day 3

Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on this date.  We will be walking to Rosedale Park together, leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 10:00 a.m.  Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the weather,  including a hat, sunglasses.  Please also apply unscented sunscreen on them at home. 

Paper Airplane Day:  Our class will have fun making and flying paper airplanes.  We will also compare the lengths of their flights.  

Absence:  I will be absent on this date.  Madame Barbara Smith will be replacing me for the day.  Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.

Thursday, June 20th, 2024 - Day 4

Update!  End-of-Year Field Trip to the Charlottetown Fire Department and City Cinema:  Our class will be going on an end-of-year field trip to Victoria Park on this date.  (There is no rain date for this excursion.)  We will be travelling by school bus, leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 11:15 a.m.  Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the weather,  including a hat, sunglasses, t-shirt, shorts, socks and sneakers.  Please also apply unscented sunscreen on them at home.  Kindly also pack your child's water bottle, lunch kit, towel and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack.  We will be eating a picnic snack at the park.  It is sure to be a fun day for all! 

Friday, June 21st, 2024 - Day 5

Hat Day Spirit Day:  All students of Sherwood School are invited to wear a hat on this date to show their pride in our school. 

Sports Day:  Our class will be participating in Sherwood School's Annual Sports Day on this date from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.  Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the weather, including a hat, sunglasses, t-shirt, shorts/pants, sweater/sweatshirt, socks and sneakers.  Please also apply unscented sunscreen on your child at home.  It’s going to be a fun-filled time! 

Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, June 23rd.  Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____. (Colour)  C'est _____. (Size)  Merci!  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.

Payment for End-of-Year Field Trips:  Payment for your child's end-of-year field trips can be made online, through their HotLunches account, or by cash until this date.  If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment.  The total fee for all three of our end-of-year field trips is $13.00.

Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Axton and our first assistant will be Benjamin this week.

Theme:  This week, our themes will be Community and Summer.

Extra Large Ziploc Bag:  Kindly empty and return the extra large Ziploc bag that will be sent home with your child each day this week (in their zippered bag).  It will contain all of their French Immersion Kindergarten materials.  

Eye See…Eye Learn! Program:  Kindly have your child take advantage of the Eye See … Eye Learn! Program before June 30th, 2024.  The Eye See … Eye Learn! program is an eye health and vision awareness program which provides one free eye exam and, if needed, one free pair of glasses to all Kindergarten students across P.E.I.  Please refer to the following link for further information: 

With warm temperatures forecasted for this week, the following reminders will help ensure that your child stays safe and comfortable:

Clothing:  Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the warm weather,  including lightweight, light-coloured, and loose-fitting clothing.

Healthy Snacks:  Kindly include fruits and vegetables with high water content in your child's snack/lunch to help them stay hydrated.

Sun Hat/Sunglasses/Sunscreen:  Kindly pack a sun hat and sunglasses in your child’s backpack, if you would like them to wear them during recess times.  Please also apply unscented sunscreen on your child at home, if you would like them to wear sunscreen at school.  Merci!

Water Bottle(s):  Kindly remember to send 1 or 2 filled water bottle(s) with your child each day.  Students will be carrying their water bottle with them throughout the day.
