Dates to Remember:

Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Tuesday, January 30th, Day 1.

Healthy Snack:  All Sherwood School students will be given trail mix for snack on Wednesday, January 31st free of charge.  There will also be a gluten-free alternative available for those who are allergic to gluten.  

Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Wednesday, January 31st, Day 2.

Book Exchange:  Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Friday, February 2nd, Day 4.  Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Thursday, February 1st, Day 3.  Merci!

Friendship Vegetable Tray:  Our class will be making a Friendship Vegetable Tray on Friday, February 2nd to conclude our Vegetables theme.  All students are welcome to bring 1 raw vegetable, prewashed and put in a Ziploc bag, to add to the tray.  It is sure to be another delicious treat!

Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, February 2nd.  Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____.  (Colour)  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:

Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Harriet and our first assistant will be Henry this week.

Theme:  This week, our theme will be Vegetables.  We will also touch on Groundhog Day. 

Countries of Origin:  Our class will be learning about Australia, Brazil and South Africa for Sherwood School's school-wide focus on Diversity and Individuality.  Thank you very much for completing the Google Form to help us make our selection.

Parents to Speak about Country of Origin:  I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to speak to our class about your family's country of origin.  Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo-tang to schedule a 30 minute block.  Merci beaucoup!

Thank you for Fruit for Friendship Salad:  Thank you very much for sending a fruit with your child to put in the Friendship Fruit Salad we made on Friday, January 26th to conclude our Fruit theme.  The Dragon Fruit was of particular interest to most students! 

Thank You for Photograph for Show and Share:  Thank you also for emailing me a photograph of your child participating in an outdoor winter activity for our integrated Winter Activities themed Show and Share on Friday, January 26th.  Each student was excited very excited to tell the class about their chosen winter activity.  Merci beaucoup!

If your child has not yet participated in an outdoor winter activity, kindly email me a photograph when they do and I will add it to the slideshow.

Assessment and Evaluation:  I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development in the coming weeks.  Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
