Dates to Remember:


Pink Shirt Day:  All students are invited to wear a pink shirt on Wednesday, February 28th to demonstrate their awareness of bullying prevention at our school, in our community and online.  The 2024 theme, All Kinds of Kindness, aims to spotlight that all forms of kindness contribute to building an inclusive and connected community.  Students are also invited to wear culturally relevant attire, if they wish to.


Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Wednesday, February 28th, Day 1.


Diversity Assembly:  Our class will be attending Sherwood School's annual Diversity Assembly on Wednesday, February 28th at 10:15 am. 


Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Thursday, February 29th, Day 2.


Absence:  I will be absent on Thursday, February 29th.  Madame Hélène Crevier will be replacing me for the day.  Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls on this date.  


Show and Share:  To complement our Early Numeracy exploration of Patterns, all students are invited to bring a pattern for Show and Share on Friday, March 1st.  Students can create a pattern using small objects (for example, Lego brick – marble, Lego brick – marble, Lego brick – marble) or can choose a pattern that already exists (for instance, on a t-shirt).  Kindly note that we learned that the elements of a pattern must repeat at least 3 times.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to your child to describe their pattern in French:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici ma régularité.  C’est _____ (AB, AAB, ABB or ABC).  Merci!  


Skating:  Our class will be going skating on Monday, March 4th  from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m. at the Cody Banks Arena, as part of our Physical Education curriculum.  Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo tang by Wednesday, February 28th, if they need to borrow skates and/or a helmet from the school.  Parents of Kindergarten students are invited to help tie skates and enjoy a skate with our grade level.  Please note that helmets must be worn on the ice by everyone.  If your child will not be skating, they will be participating in an alternative academic activity at the school.   


Book Exchange:  Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Monday, March 4th, Day 4Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Friday, March 1st, Day 3.  Merci!


Parent-Teacher Interviews:  Second term parent-teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, March 7th and Friday, March 8th.  Kindly note that Sherwood School will be closed to students on Friday, March 8th.


Parent-Teacher Interview Online Booking System:  The online booking system to schedule your child's parent-teacher interview, School Appointments, opened on Friday, February 23rd at 9:00 am and closes on Saturday, March 2nd at 9:00 pm.   Kindly refer to the link is below:


Sherwood School Appointments


Winter Wellness Bingo:  Our class will be getting active by playing Winter Wellness Bingo again this week.   We will be participating in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to get a "straight" line!

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:


Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Nia and our first assistant will be Nico this week.


Theme:  This week, our theme will continue to be Feelings.


Fruits and Vegetables:  We have been talking about fruits and vegetables during snack and lunch times over the past few weeks.  Kindly send a fruit and/or vegetable of your child's liking in their lunch kit to encourage them to participate in our conversations!  Bon appétit!   


Parents to Speak about Country of Origin:  I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to speak to our class about your family's country of origin.  Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo-tang to schedule a 30 minute block.  Merci beaucoup!


Assessment and Evaluation:  I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development in the coming weeks.  Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
