Dates to Remember:


Solar Eclipse Glasses:  Solar eclipse glasses, purchased by the Department of Education and Early Years, were distributed to all Sherwood School students on Thursday, April 4th.  Kindly remember to check your child's zippered bag for them.


Early Dismissal:  Sherwood School students will be dismissed at 12:35 p.m. on Monday, April 8th due to the full solar eclipse that will be occurring on this date.  Students will be dismissed following the Early Dismissal procedure that parents/guardians provided to the school in September. 


Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Monday, April 8th, Day 2.


Home and School Association Meeting:  Sherwood School’s next Home and School Association meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s Library.  All parents/guardians are invited to attend. 


Book Exchange:  Our next book exchange will be on Wednesday, April 10th, Day 4Kindly have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Tuesday, April 9th, Day 3.  Merci!


Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, April 12th.   Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____. (Colour)  C'est _____. (Size)  Merci!  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.


Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Monday, April 15th, Day 1.


Jump into Spring Cash Draw 2024:  Sherwood School's Home and School Association will once again be running their popular Jump into Spring Cash Draw.  It will be their main fundraiser of the year.  Students will be given 10 tickets on Monday, April 8th.  All tickets, sold or unsold, must be returned by Wednesday, April 24th, in the envelope provided.  If your child sells all 10 tickets, more can be requested and sent home with them.  Funds raised will be going towards the playground at the new school.

 

Ticket Sale Dates:  Monday, April 8th – Wednesday, April 24th

Draw Date:  Monday, April 29th

Ticket Price:  $10 each      

Prizes:  $1000, $750, $100, $100

Student Prizes:  top seller, top class, honorable mentions and draw prizes

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:


Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Nico and our first assistant will be Rylee this week.


Themes:  This week, our theme will be Spring.  We will also touch on the Solar Eclipse.


Extra Snacks:  Kindly pack an extra snack or two in your child's lunch kit as many students were hungrier than usual upon our return to school after the mid-term break last week.  Merci beaucoup!  


Parents to Speak about Occupation/Hobby:  Parents, you are formally invited to speak to our class about your occupation/hobby.  Kindly write me a note in your child’s Communication Duo-tang to schedule a 30 minute block.  Merci beaucoup! 


Splish Splash:  On Tuesday, March 19th, all Kinderdergarten classes were treated to a visit from Madame Baglole's sisters, Julie Affleck and Tracy Campbell.  They are the respective author and illustrator of the book Splish Splash.  The rhyming story was a hit with all students!
