Monday, March 11th, 2024 - Day 1

Dates to Remember:


French Month:  Sherwood School will be celebrating French language and culture in a fun and informative way each day this month. 


Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Monday, March 11th, Day 1.


Scholastic Book Fair:  Sherwood School’s second Scholastic Book Fair of the year will be held in the school's Library from Monday, March 11th until Friday, March 15th  Our class will be viewing the books on Tuesday, March 12th at 9:45 a.m. and buying on Thursday, March 14th at 9:00 a.m.  If you would like for your child to purchase a book, kindly send cash or a cheque (payable to Sherwood School) with them in an envelope, clearly labelled with their name and the amount enclosed in it.  Please also put your child’s “wish list" in the envelope.  Don’t forget to circle the title that they would like to buy.


Language(s):  Kindly complete the Google Form below, indicating the language(s) that your child is spoken to in your home, by Tuesday, March 12th.  Thank you very much for your help.

Regularly Scheduled Book Exchange:  Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be rescheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd, Day 4 due to the Scholastic Book Fair that will be held in the school's Library.  Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Wednesday, March 13th, Day 3.  Merci! 


Rescheduled Parent-Teacher Interviews:  I look forward to meeting with you on Thursday, March 14th to discuss your child's progress, if their parent-teacher interview will be rescheduled from Thursday, March 7th, for that date. 


Onesie or Pajama Day:  Students are invited to wear a onesie or pajamas and bring a stuffed toy on Friday, March 15thWe will also watch a short French show while we eat lunch. 


Show and Share:  To complement our integrated theme of Transportation, all students are invited to bring a small waterproof toy for Show and Share on Friday, March 15th.  We are going to explore which objects float and which sink.  Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____.  (Colour)  Merci!  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.


Rescheduled Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be rescheduled for Friday, March 15th, Day 5.


Nutrition Presentation:  In recognition of March being Nutrition Month, our class will be attending a French presentation on nutrition, led by UPEI students, on Friday, March 15th at 2:05 p.m. in the school's gymnasium.


Winter Wellness Bingo:  Our class will be getting active by playing Winter Wellness Bingo again this week.   We will be participating in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to get a "straight" line!

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:


Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Isaac and our first assistant will be Maisie this week.


Themes:  This week, our themes will continue to be Occupations and Transportation.


Shubenacadie Sam Stickers:  Thank you very much to my family friend who gave each student in our class a Shubenacadie Sam sticker.   The stickers were very much appreciated!


Eye See…Eye Learn! Program:  Kindly have your child take advantage of the Eye See … Eye Learn! Program before June 30th, 2024.  The Eye See … Eye Learn! program is an eye health and vision awareness program which provides one free eye exam and, if needed, one free pair of glasses to all Kindergarten students across P.E.I.  Please refer to the following link for further information:

Parents to Speak about Occupation/Hobby:  Parents, you are formally invited to speak to our class about your occupation/hobby.  Kindly write me a note in your child’s Communication Duo-tang to schedule a 30 minute block.  Merci beaucoup!
