Dates to Remember:

Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Monday, February 12th, Day 2.

Home and School Meeting:  Sherwood School’s next Home and School Association meeting of the year will be held on Monday, February 12th at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s Library.  All parents/guardians are invited to attend.

Absence:  I will be absent on Tuesday, February 13th.  Madame Hélène Crevier will be replacing me for the day.   I will be attending a committee meeting for French Immersion Kindergarten teachers.  Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls on this date. 

Valentine's Day Card Exchange:  Our class will be exchanging Valentine’s Day cards on Wednesday, February 14th.  Kindly have your child write a card to each student in our class.  A class list is in their Communication duo tang, in their zippered bag.

Valentine's Day Spirit Day:  All students are invited to dress in pink, red and white on Wednesday, February 14th, in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Valentine's Day Party:  Our class will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Wednesday, February 14th by playing bingo and enjoying a snack together.  I will provide a bite to eat that is packaged individually and labelled as Peanut/Nut free.

Book Exchange:  Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Wednesday, February 14th, Day 4.  Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Tuesday, February 13th, Day 3.  Merci!

Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, February 16th.  Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____.  (Colour)  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.

Islander Day:  Kindly note that Sherwood School will be closed on Monday, February 19th as it will be Islander Day. 

Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Tuesday, February 20th, Day 1.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:

Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Athena and our first assistant will be Axton this week.

Theme:  This week, our theme will be Valentine's Day.  We will also touch on the Lunar New Year.

Parents to Speak about Country of Origin:  I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to speak to our class about your family's country of origin.  Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo-tang to schedule a 30 minute block.  Merci beaucoup!

Thank you for Vegetable for Friendship Vegetable Tray:  Thank you very much for sending a vegetable with your child to add to the Friendship Vegetable Tray that we made on Friday, February 2nd to conclude our Vegetable theme.  The Iceburg Lettuce was a favourite amongst many students!

Thank You for Photograph for Show and Share:  Thank you also for emailing me a photograph of your child participating in an outdoor winter activity for our integrated Winter Activities themed Show and Share on Friday, January 26th.  Each student was excited very excited to tell the class about their chosen winter activity.  Merci beaucoup!

If your child has not yet participated in an outdoor winter activity, kindly email me a photograph when they do and I will add it to the slideshow.

Assessment and Evaluation:  I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development in the coming weeks.  Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
