Monday, June 10th, 2024 - Day 2

Dates to Remember:


Library Book Return Deadline:  Kindly have your child return all of their Library books by Monday, June 10th.  Merci beaucoup!


Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Monday, June 10th, Day 2.


Vibrant Rainbow Colour Day:  All staff and students of Sherwood School are invited to wear vibrant rainbow colours on Wednesday, June 12th in support of PEI's PRIDE month, the month of June.  In doing so, we will be celebrating what makes us each unique with Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three best dressed students.


Pride Parade:  Our class will be participating in Sherwood School's annual Pride Parade on Wednesday, June 12th at 12:15 p.m.


End-of-Year Field Trip to the Charlottetown Fire Department and City Cinema:  Our class will be going on an end-of-year field trip to the Charlottetown Fire Department and City Cinema on Thursday, June 13th.  (There is no rain date for this excursion.)  We will be travelling by school bus, leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 2:00 p.m.  Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the weather,  including a sun hat, sun glasses and a spring coat.  Please also apply unscented sunscreen on them at home.  Kindly also pack your child's water bottle, lunch kit, towel and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack.  We will be eating a picnic lunch at the Connaught Square Park.  It is sure to be a fun day for all! 


Teacher or Twin Spirit Day:  All students of Sherwood School are invited to dress like a teacher or a friend on Friday, June 14th to show their pride in our school. 


Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, June 14th.   Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____. (Colour)  C'est _____. (Size)  Merci!  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.


Absence:  I will be absent on Friday, June 14th.  Madame Hélène Crevier will be replacing me for the day.  Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls on this date. 


Payment for End-of-Year Field Trips:  Payment for your child's end-of-year field trips can be made online, through their HotLunches account, or by cash until Friday, June 21st.  If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment.  The total fee for all three of our end-of-year field trips is $13.00.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:


Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Maisie and our first assistant will be Nia this week.


Theme:  This week, our theme will be Community and Summer.  We will also touch on Father's Day.


Eye See…Eye Learn! Program:  Kindly have your child take advantage of the Eye See … Eye Learn! Program before June 30th, 2024.  The Eye See … Eye Learn! program is an eye health and vision awareness program which provides one free eye exam and, if needed, one free pair of glasses to all Kindergarten students across P.E.I.  Please refer to the following link for further information: 


Sun Hat/Sunglasses/Sunscreen:  Kindly pack a sun hat and sunglasses in your child’s backpack, if you would like them to wear them during recess times.  Please also apply unscented sunscreen on your child at home, if you would like them to wear sunscreen at school.  Merci!


Sweater/Sweatshirt:  Kindly send a sweater/sweatshirt with your child each day.  Our classroom can be cool in the mornings, despite the warmer weather.


Water Bottle(s):  Kindly remember to send 1 or 2 filled water bottle(s) with your child each day.  Our classroom can be warm in the afternoons.
