Dates to Remember:

Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Tuesday, February 20th, Day 1.

Healthy Snack:  All Sherwood School students will be given raisins for snack on Wednesday, February 21st free of charge.  The raisins will be dairy and gluten free. 

Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Wednesday, February 21st, Day 2.

Book Exchange:  Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Thursday, February 22nd, Day 4.  Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Wednesday, February 21st, Day 3.  Merci!

Valentine's Day Spirit Day Take-Two:  All students are invited to dress in pink, red and white again on Friday, February 23rd, in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, February 23rd.  Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____.  (Colour)  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.

Parent-Teacher Interviews:  Second term parent-teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, March 7th and Friday, March 8th.  Kindly note that Sherwood School will be closed to students on Friday, March 8th.

Parent-Teacher Interview Online Booking System:  The online booking system to schedule your child's parent-teacher interview, School Appointments, will open on Friday, February 23rd at 9:00 am and close on Saturday, March 2nd at 9:00 pm.   Kindly refer to the link is below:

Sherwood School Appointments

Sherwood School Dance:  Sherwood School's Home and School Association will be hosting a dance on Friday, February 23rd from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the school's gymnasium.  Entrance into the dance will be free of charge.  There will be a concession table with chips, water, candy, and glowsticks for sale.  Families can sign-up on the Sherwood Home & School Facebook post dated Monday, January 29th.  It is sure to be a fun evening!  

Winter Wellness Bingo:  Our class will be getting active by playing Winter Wellness Bingo this week and next.   We will be participating in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to get a "straight" line!

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:

Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Harriet and our first assistant will be Henry this week.

Theme:  This week, our theme will be Feelings.  We will also touch on the Lunar New Year again.

Fruits and Vegetables:  We have been talking about fruits and vegetables during snack and lunch times over the past few weeks.  Kindly send a fruit and/or vegetable of your child's liking in their lunch kit to encourage them to participate in our conversations!  Bon appétit!   

Parents to Speak about Country of Origin:  I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to speak to our class about your family's country of origin.  Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo-tang to schedule a 30 minute block.  Merci beaucoup!

Staff Appreciation Week:  Thank you very much to Sherwood School's Home and School Association and all families of our school community for their creative and meaningful contributions to Staff Appreciation Week.  It is truly a privilege to teach each of your children. 

Assessment and Evaluation:  I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development in the coming weeks.  Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
