Dates to Remember:

Absence:  I will be absent on Tuesday, February 6th.  Madame Hélène Crevier will be replacing me for the day.  Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls on this date. 

Home and School Meeting:  Sherwood School’s next Home and School Association meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, February 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s Library.  All parents/guardians are invited to attend. 

Second Step Program:  Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Wednesday, February 7th, Day 1.

Learning Buddies:  Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Thursday, February 8th, Day 2.

Show Sherwood Showcase Assembly:  Our class will be attending the school's first annual Show Sherwood Showcase Assembly on Thursday, February 8th at 12:15 p.m.  

Book Exchange:  Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Monday, February 12th, Day 4.  Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Friday, February 9th, Day 3.  Merci!

Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, February 9th.  Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy.  The following sentence structures may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici mon/ma _____.  C'est _____.  (Colour)  Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.

Valentine's Day Card Exchange:  Our class will be exchanging Valentine’s Day cards on Wednesday, February 14th.  Kindly have your child write a card to each student in our class.  A class list is in their Communication duo tang, in their zippered bag.   Please have your child bring in their cards by or on Monday, February 12th.  Merci!

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:

Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Nico and our first assistant will be Rylee this week.

Theme:  This week, our theme will be Valentine's Day this week and next.

Parents to Speak about Country of Origin:  I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to speak to our class about your family's country of origin.  Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo-tang to schedule a 30 minute block.  Merci beaucoup!

Thank you for Vegetable for Friendship Vegetable Tray:  Thank you very much for sending a vegetable with your child to add to the Friendship Vegetable Tray that we made on Friday, February 2nd to conclude our Vegetable theme.  The Iceburg Lettuce was a favourite amongst many students!

Thank You for Photograph for Show and Share:  Thank you also for emailing me a photograph of your child participating in an outdoor winter activity for our integrated Winter Activities themed Show and Share on Friday, January 26th.  Each student was excited very excited to tell the class about their chosen winter activity.  Merci beaucoup!

If your child has not yet participated in an outdoor winter activity, kindly email me a photograph when they do and I will add it to the slideshow.

Assessment and Evaluation:  I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development in the coming weeks.  Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
