Introducing the Trash Busters! Help the school by volunteering! Starting soon, we will have multiple different bins in the cafeteria to help reduce the amount of waste from lunch. We will be separating normal waste into recycling, compost, and landfill bins. So, what exactly does a Trash Buster do? The answer to this is simple; you get to help students sort their trash into different bins. Not only that, but you get to leave class early and bring a buddy to make things go faster.
Why do we need to separate waste? Most of the time, the waste from the cafeteria makes its way into landfills, and sometimes the ocean. If we sort our waste into recycling, compost and landfill, we will be able to lessen our impact on the environment and those landfills.
Of course, eventually, we won’t need Trash Busters to help sort the waste. This is just a short-term solution to help students get used to the idea of separating trash. Hopefully, there will come a day when all students know what trash goes in what bin, but for now, join the Trash Busters!
There will be an info meeting on March 23rd at team block so you can learn all about the Trash Busters. This is also the time to sign up. We will be needing volunteers from all grade levels so please come if you are interested. More information can be seen on the video bulletin.
