Q: What are you most excited to teach in this school?

A: I have never taught performing arts which is for the 7th graders which is exciting, and I always have fun teaching orchestra

Q: When did you decide you want to be a teacher and musician

A: In third grade, I played violin and I had an orchestra teacher I looked up to so I knew since like 7th, 8th grade. But that doesn't mean you have to know what you want to be in middle school.

Q: Before you were a music teacher what were you?

A: I had a job cleaning pools at condos. It wasn't a blast since I had to carry frogs away from the pool.

Q: Do you have any fun, secret talents?

A: I like cooking and baking, I would say I'm good at it but you would have to ask other people

Q: What is your favorite instrument to play?

A: Violin, definitely

Q: What did you major in college?

A: I majored in music education in college.

Q: Do you have any pets? If not what is your favorite animal?

A: I have 2 cats Nimbus and Jojo, who I talk about a lot more than people want to hear for

Q: What is one decoration that you wish you had in the music room?

A: I want an album cover collage based on answers students gave for what music they listen to so it can kind of represent the whole school

Q: What is your favorite book and movie?

A: The Harry Potter books are my favorite. The Nightmare Before Christmas would be my favorite movie but maybe I am just thinking about it because it is Halloween time.

Q: What is one piece of advice you want to give to all the students?

A: Hmm...I say find people who make you feel yourself and make you feel safe and comforted.

8th Grade Civics (Silver)

By: Maddie Plurad and Abby Cutrona

Q: Why did you choose to teach this subject?

A: I chose to teach this subject because I have always found Social Studies to be an interesting topic. There are so many things in today’s world that we can connect to Social Studies. It is a very important subject. Civics is even more fun because it is relevant to our everyday lives and we are able to have discussions about current events and important topics in society in our class.

Q: If you weren't a teacher, what would be your dream job?

A: My dream job would be to be a host of a sports talk radio show.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in Reading, MA, 20 minutes down the road from Bedford.

Q: What was your favorite subject when you were in middle school?

A: My favorite subject when I was in middle school was math. I always thought it was so much fun and in one of my math classes, we did a stock market game. That was one of my favorite activities that I did when I was a student.

Q: What do you think the most important qualities in friendships are?

A: I think that the most important qualities in friendships are honesty, loyalty, a good sense of humor, and trust.

Q: Do you have the same relationships with your siblings/family members as you did in middle school?

A: I have stayed close with a lot of family members since I was in middle school. Things have changed as I have become an uncle to my niece and nephew. I have also kept a lot of the same friends that I had when I was in middle school.

Q: When did you decide you wanted to be a teacher?

A: When I was in high school I had a lot of great teachers that inspired me to become a teacher. They also happened to be my history teachers! They always made the class so much fun and really brought history to life for me. Those teachers took the time to not only get to know me as a student but would also develop personal connections with me by talking about sports or other interests that I had outside of school. I always found that to be important when I became a teacher.

Q: What was your favorite grade?

A: My favorite grade was definitely 8th grade. I had so much fun in all of my classes and in sports that my middle school had. We had a big middle school hockey team with all of my friends that I grew up with and went undefeated in our league and won the middle school championship. Also, just the excitement of moving on to high school was something that I was really looking forward to the whole year.

7th Grade English (Purple)

Q: Why did you choose to teach English?

A: I always loved to read. As I got older, I realized that I really loved English classes, especially when we talked about themes and characters. I couldn't think of a better job!

Q: If you weren't a teacher, what would your dream job be?

A: Either a full time singer or a yoga instructor.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in Medford, pronounced Medfid.

Q: What was your favorite subject in middle school?

A: English and Music

Q: When did you decide to be a teacher?

A: I always had it in the back of my mind, but I didn't decide until I graduated from college.

Q: What was your favorite grade in middle school (6-8)?

A: Definitely 6th. I had the nicest teacher named Mr. Naso. Actually, I went to junior high which was only 7th and 8th grade. If I had to choose between those, it would be 8th. It's funny that I ended up loving to teach 7th grade since I didn't like being in it at all. 😁
