Groundhog Day

The tradition of groundhog day in America dates back to 1800 when a groundhog in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania, cast a shadow in the early morning. According to legend, if the groundhog dubbed “Punxsutawney Phil” sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter-like weather. On the other hand, if no shadow is seen then spring-like weather is sure to follow. Every year on February 2nd, people gather together whether it's in front of Phil’s burrow, or around their tv to get the reading on the weather to come. This year, Phil did see his shadow meaning that there will be six more weeks of winter. Was his prediction right? We’ll just have to wait and see.
