End-of-year thoughts

I was thinking about an article to write for the end of this year. It was more complicated than I thought between the tests and final projects and the lack of events to write about. In the end, I just decided to do some closing thoughts. Middle school was definitely a wild ride, first, with the everyday stresses of middle school. Adjusting to the faster pace of work, now running from class to class, and figuring out lockers. Those were what we had to deal with first. Then bam, 7th grade (a.k.a 6th grade part 2.) Everything was a bit more normal until COVID hit.

We had that extended 1 month break period which at first was fun until it wasn’t. Eventually, when we realized that we had nothing to do, school started again in 8th grade. Things had adapted to COVID, and some didn’t like it. Some, like myself, did. Fast forward a bit, and here we are, we made it. I feel that despite all we lost, some good did come of this. One of my greatest qualms with the school system was that technology was not well integrated and has changed. I remember when school started before COVID, teachers used every different platform. Some used separate apps, some sent emails, others used Aspen. It was a mess. Now I think that we are going to be more coordinated when it comes to technology. I also believe that the event changed the students’ view of the school. We all, at some point or another, wished the school would just end. If there is anything this pandemic has taught us, the reality of that is not as good as we would have fantasized. While we still don’t like school, I think our view of school has changed. This year has been crazy, but with COVID seemingly coming to a close and tests ending soon, congratulations, and remember to enjoy what you have.
