Teacher Spotlight
Mrs. Busa in 7th grade
Mrs. Busa's dog, Dante, was got in December and is a Cockapoo (half Cocker Spaniel, half Poodle). He is super smart and is house trained. He doesn't always obey his "get off" command, and he is always going for their shoes.

7th Grade Social Studies (Purple)
By: Maddie Plurad
Why did you chose to teach this subject?
"I always liked social studies because I had a really interesting teacher in eighth grade. He made it really fun. He made me see that those people living a long time ago, they were actually real, and the decisions that they made are a lot like the decisions that you and I make today. So I guess I wanted to try to do the same thing for my students."
If you weren't a teacher, what would be your dream job?
"I always wanted to be an architect. I loved old homes, I loved watching design shows and construction shows, and I think it would have been fun either to design the homes or to build them and work on them."
What was your favorite subject in middle school?
"My favorite subject in middle school might have actually been chorus or music. I always really liked singing, and a lot of my friends were in that class. I had a really tough and good chorus teacher, so she made all of us a lot better, and it was fun to improve at something."
What is your favorite part about teaching?
"My favorite part about teaching is the students. Making all the assignments and doing all the grading, that stuff is definitely not as fun, but I enjoy having discussions with you guys and hearing about what's going on in your lives, that's kind of what makes it fun for me."
Did you do any sports in middle school?
"I played tennis, and I stopped playing softball in seventh grade, once the other girls started pitching an picking their positions. I kind of realized that I was in it more for the social aspect and the team aspect. I wasn't really talented enough to have my own positions, and I didn't really want it enough to practice. I did a lot more art classes, dancing, musicals, and I took art classes at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It was really musicals and this thing called show choir, which is kind of like Glee, but you're basically singing and dancing on stage. It's really athletic, you're doing a lot of dancing, but that was super fun!"
When did you decide you wanted to be a teacher?
"I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I was in college, but it was a little bit late, so I didn't study education formally until my masters."
Where did you go to college?
"I went to Providence college in Providence, Rhode Island. It's a smaller liberal arts school, and they have really great women's hockey, they have really great women's and men's basketball, and it was really nice being in a city, but being a little bit removed from city life. Providence is a really cool city, it's very artsy. They have a lot of good restaurants and music and museums, so it's not a city that is focused only on sports, but they have a lot of different stuff going on, so that was one of the cool things about it."
What was your favorite grade?
"I think third grade. Third grade I had an awesome teacher, and she taught us about things that I don't think we were even supposed to be learning yet! She taught us all about the systems of the human body, she taught us about ancient Egypt, and we all learned hieroglyphics, we did a lot of geography, and she just made everything so fun."
