Boston Mayoral Election Results


The Boston Mayoral Election was held on November 2, where Bostonians voted between the two candidates Michelle Wu and Annissa Essaibi George. After many debates, campaigning, and voting, the final popular vote reveals that Wu, with 91,239 votes and 64.0% is the winner and now Mayor-elect, and she will be sworn in on November 16, 2021, while Essaibi George got 50,879 votes with 35.7%. The map shows which parts of Boston voted for who. The other graphs show the candidate's popularity with voters. The one on top shows all of the candidates who ran. The bottom one shows just Wu and Essaibi George. If you didn’t know, Kim Janey is the acting Mayor after replacing Marty Walsh who became Secretary of Labor under President Joe Biden. Janey ran for election, and after dropping out endorsed Wu for mayor. Michelle Wu is the first woman and first person of color to be elected as Mayor of Boston, and after a successful campaign and win, she will most likely seek a second term in four years, which is how long a term is. The next election for mayor will be on November 4, 2025.
