Welcome back Seahawk nation!
We had a busy summer preparing this brand NEW Journalism I/II course. The Journalism course has merged with Newspaper Production to create The Seahawk Press. Our Journalism students produced our daily student news show, SNN, which can be found here. Students also produce the print and digital editions of The Seahawk Times. We have 28 students this semester so there are a lot of diverse news articles to read from a variety of writers.
Part of my task this summer was creating a news studio to film SNN. We transformed an unused closet in my classroom to create a new news studio. The studio allows space to film, use a green screen for backgrounds, and store filming equipment.
I want to thank Mr. Schidrich and Mrs. Austin for all of their help with the creation of the SNN studio over the summer, and all of their creative ideas that have been implemented in the show.
We are very excited to launch our brand new website. Two of the journalism students worked very hard moving everything from the old website to this site; creating a fresh, clean, new look for our brand as The Seahawk Press.
Some new features in the digital newspaper this quarter include photojournalism selections and video shorts highlighting Hispanic Heritage Month, Senior Parking Spot Painting, Staff/Student Tennis Match, and Homecoming.
You can find the print edition inside the Hilton Head Island Sun on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.
