The Seahawk Times is a print and digital student newspaper at Hilton Head Island High School.
At first, Newspaper Production was launched in the fall of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of the class and the newspaper is to showcase all the amazing things that happen at HHIHS. Our other goal is to spread positivity and joy in a time where news was not always good.
The digital version of TST contains ALL student news written during that quarter, department updates, PTSO updates, SIC updates, a letter from the editor, and other school-related news. You can also find the select print edition of TST inside the Hilton Head Island Sun (a local community newspaper), on the first Wednesday of the month towards the end of each academic quarter. We produce four to six editions of the newspaper each school year, with four quarterly editions that summarize the news that happened during that academic quarter, and at least one or two special editions that showcase special events at HHIHS. All news articles written by students will be on this website.
During the 2021-22 school year, Newspaper Production & Journalism I/II were merged together to create The Seahawk Press. Now called Journalism, students produce a daily news show titled the "Seahawks News Network," or "SNN" and the quarterly student newspaper "The Seahawk Times."

Our History
Fall 2014
In the Fall of 2014, the news show first broadcasts for each school year. Mr. Demaio was in charge of the news show. This started the Demaio Era.
Each school year, the show had renamed themselves multiple times such as:

Fall 2020
The Seahawk Times (Newspaper Production) was launched in the Fall of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. TST was taken care of by Ms. Spisz. This started the Demaio/Spisz Era.
The goal of the class and the newspaper is to showcase all the amazing things that happen at HHIHS. Our other goal is to spread positivity and joy in a time where news is not always good news. The newspaper was the idea of HHIHS principal, Mr. Schidrich.
The news show (The News) only aired 1 semester that school year.

In the Summer of 2021, both classes were merged to create "The Seahawk Press."
Ms. Spisz became the CEO of TSP. The Demaio/Spisz Era has ended and the Spisz Era has begun. Tradition continues from previous era by naming the different show segments after previous show names or variations thereof.
Students now produce a daily news show and the quarterly student newspaper called:

We launched our YouTube Channel "The Seahawk News Network" for the first time. Our YouTube Channel is broken down into monthly announcements, which only staff can see, and publicly we have videos highlighting sports, the arts, and other fun events at HHIHS. We are excited to build and diversify our YouTube Channel in the coming years.

This year is the 40th anniversary of HHIHS. As HHIHS celebrates its Ruby Jubilee, SNN/TST will be providing updates on celebrations through newspaper articles and videos.

Year 2023-2024
Beaufort County residents passed the 2023 Referendum. Construction for the new Hilton Head Island High School began in the late spring of 2024. SNN/TST will provide construction updates as information becomes available.
