Spring Semester English Students: Outside Reading Update
Looking ahead to next semester, all the English teachers would like to remind students to read their outside reading assignment prior to the first day of English class. The list of required reading can be found on the school’s website under the Students tab and under the Academics/Media Center tab. If students or parents should have any questions, you can reach out to any English teacher. English Department Welcomes Two New Teachers
The English Department is excited to welcome to new members to the Nest, Mr. Hultz and Mr. Smith!
Brad Hultz is teaching in the Ninth Grade Academy and currently teaches both English I and English II. Mr. Hultz is originally from Long Beach, California. He graduated from Cal State, Long Beach and then taught at Long Beach Wilson High until 2009. From there, he moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he taught for ten years at Ballard High School. Mr. Hultz has been vacationing in Hilton Head for many years and was extremely excited to have the chance to make the move. When not in the classroom, you may find Mr. Hultz enjoying the bike paths, the beach, the tennis court, or the pool.Isaac Smith teaches ACT Verbal and English II this semester. He graduated with a BA in English from Armstrong State University located in Savannah, Ga in 2014. He started his teaching career in his hometown of Griffin, Ga at Spalding Highschool. He would eventually make his way further north to teach at Marietta High, in Marietta, Ga and would then find his way to the island of Hilton Head sometime later.
Mr. Smith takes the discipline and structure he learned from the military and applies it to his classroom philosophy and his personal hobbies. He likes to fill his down time with family, friends, and fitness and often tries to combine the three together. His current goals are to further his career in education as well as train for his first marathon. His way of life is centered around helping himself and others exceed their limitations.
