The Hilton Head Island High School Seahawk basketball team was successful this season.
The boys basketball team made it all the way to the state championship game for the first time in school history.
The game was held in Aiken, South Carolina on the 6th of March 2021. They played against South Pointe High School. The game was close the entire time and came down to the last few seconds. Unfortunately, South Pointe High School scored and the Seahawks lost in the final seconds of the game by two points.
The boys basketball team has continued to improve under Coach Brown's leadership. Coach Brown says that the team, “worked hard, was dedicated, the entire team had the same goal, and the team worked really well together."
For the future of the Seahawk basketball team, Coach Brown says, “the team has another year to become even better and learn how to play better as a team.”
The Seahawks are enjoying the success and accomplishments of this season and are hopeful for future state championship games. Hopefully the Seahawks will bring a state title back home!
Overall, they had a great season and they will continue to have success in the future.

James Levy is a senior athlete at Hilton Head Island High School, who won the state wrestling tournament during this unprecedented time in his weight division.
He has 10 years of wrestling experience and while attending Hilton Head Island High School he made his dream of winning states come true. He says, “Hilton Head Island High School has done a lot for me and the students and teachers all wished me luck before I went to states.”
As much as the Hilton Head Island High School has helped him, he is different than other competitors.
James says, “the difference between me and the people I compete against is my mentality. I believe I can beat anyone I go against.”
James' wrestling journey at HHIHS has not been easy. He says, “the most challenging thing for me was winning my state finals match after taking 2nd in the state the past 2 years.”
After he won states he claims, “it felt amazing when I won because I worked very hard and it felt good to achieve my goal.”
James Levy has over 100 career wins during his time at HHIHS.
James Levy will leave a legacy for future student athletes to aspire too.

The Hilton Head Island High School baseball team is ready to take on this season.
They started their season by playing in a preseason tournament 3/6 – 3/10, and their first regular season game is Monday 3/15.
Varsity head coach Joel Klock, is determined to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and he says, "luckily with baseball, it is a sport where athletes are very spread out. When on the field everyone is more than 6 feet apart, but when we are in close contact like in the dugout, we ask our players to have a face covering. We also sanitize the baseballs frequently, and encourage players to have their own equipment so nothing is shared.”
Mr. Klock also says, “we are feeling very confident coming into this season. We have a good number of returning players, and a very solid group of talented young guys. We are really going to focus on pitching well and playing good defense and if we can do those things we will be very successful!”
Finally the coaching staff for the 2021 season is Joel Klock – Head Varsity Coach, Matt Bauman – Assistant Varsity Coach, Jeremy Willard – Assistant Varsity Coach, Steve Ratzer – Head JV Coach, Matt Eosso – Assistant JV Coach.
