At RPA the Business Department vision is to help students understand and engage with the increasingly complex business world in which we live and to enable them to become informed, confident & ethical consumers, employees and entrepreneurs.The courses at Key Stage 4 & 5 have developed to include a wider understanding and experiences linked to the Political, Ethical, Social, Technological, Legal & Environmental context of business. This external environment is rapidly changing and our intention is to develop students into informed and adaptable individuals, ready to tackle the challenges ahead.The specifications and sequences of lessons selected are aimed to give students the opportunity to explore real business issues and how businesses work. It has been designed with a clear and straightforward structure to enable all students to access and engage with the world of business.

We offer a range of courses that are closely allied to the world of business and finance. NCFE Business in Years 10 and 11 offers pupils an opportunity to learn about and investigate a wide spectrum of subjects such as enterprise, business organisations, business law, marketing and finance. Learners are encouraged to be inspired, moved and changed by following a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study. Pupils gain an insight into business management, accountancy and finance, human resource management, retail management and international business and are able to make informed decisions about learning opportunities and career choices.
In Sixth Form we offer BTEC National Awards in Business that aims to prepare learners for employment within the Business sector. The course offers a qualification, which provides vocational emphasis within the World of Business. Equally, the course offers a focused qualification for learners who wish to follow a programme of study that is directly related to an aspect of employment that they wish to move into in due course. Topics that are studied include Business planning, Marketing, Finance and Sales.
