What surprises you? What do you notice? What are you learning about our community of artists? Are there any common themes between different artists?
What do you notice right away?
What do you notice the more that you look at it?
What parts of it do you respond to most-- is it the materials they used? The composition? The subject matter?
Is their work/artistic practice similar to your or extremely different?
Remember: Inspiration can come in many forms, and is not limited to one avenue. You might be intrigued by their concept (idea), their use of materials (technique) or how they have composed their work of art to catch the viewer’s eye. Your challenge is to create something unique to YOU that in some way connects to your partner's work.
Think-about: What are some ways that artists throughout history have referenced other artists' work? Don't limit your thinking to visual artists either--consider how musical artists sample or remix other artists' songs as a possible example.
TITLE your artwork with your first name! in the same padlet, and post it ABOVE its inspiration artwork!
