What do you notice right away?
What do you notice the more that you look at it?
What parts of it do you respond to most-- is it the materials they used? The composition? The subject matter?
Is their work/artistic practice similar to your or extremely different?
Step 2: Begin creating an artwork in response to your partner's work. There are no limits to the materials that you may use in your artwork, and it can be any size that you choose, and often, smaller is better!. (Just keep in mind that this finished artwork is due [uploaded to padlet] BEFORE YOU ARRIVE MONDAY 9/9)

Remember: Inspiration can come in many forms, and is not limited to one avenue. You might be intrigued by their concept (idea), their use of materials (technique) or how they have composed their work of art to catch the viewer’s eye. Your challenge is to create something unique to YOU that in some way connects to your partner's work.
Think-about: What are some ways that artists throughout history have referenced other artists' work? Don't limit your thinking to visual artists either--consider how musical artists sample or remix other artists' songs as a possible example.

You will have 3 days to work in class (Today 8/29 & TUES 9/3, and THURS 9/5) and then as much time as you need outside of the classroom to have this piece finished BEFORE you arrive to class on MONDAY 9/9. Please post a high quality photograph of your finished work to the padlet above, posting directly above the artwork you were inspired by. BE PREPARED FOR A CLASS CRIT (AKA celebration, show & tell) OF YOUR FINISHED WORK.
