CHAPERONE POLICY
Chaperones are adults in charge of protecting the safety and well being of students in the West Springfield Public Schools. Any adult on a school-sponsored event/field trip is prohibited from gambling, consuming alcoholic beverages or any other controlled substances. Tobacco use in the presence of students is prohibited. It is the School Committee policy that the entire time a chaperone is on a school sponsored event/field trip, they are acting in a supervisory capacity.
Chaperones must be either a student’s parent or guardian or an employee of the West Springfield School District. Exceptions may be made ONLY WITH EXPRESS WRITTEN PERMISSION OF THE PRINCIPAL.
Any violation of this policy or the Field & Educational Trip Policy and Guidelines (File IJOA & IJOA-R) will result in disciplinary action that will include prohibition from chaperoning future trips.
