Photography is an exciting medium that allows you to explore artistic expression in many different directions. In the advanced classes we explore alternative processes and chemical emulsions. This introductory class is designed to teach you the basic vocabulary, equipment, and chemistry processes to make a great black and white image. We first need to start with key vocabulary and basic camera functions. Below you will find the presentation I use in class to discuss all of the information to be successful in this photography course. Learning a new process takes time but I know all of you can do it! Please feel free to ask questions or see my after school if you need more help. I do expect everyone to participate in class. If you do not volunteer, I will call on you. You will be tested on this information so please take notes.
Key Vocabulary:
Here is the slide presentation I use in class. If you ever miss a day during the first couple of weeks, you are welcome to take a look through the slides to help you catch-up. Feel free to talk to a classmate and ask to borrow their notes.
Before we start with the learning about the functions of the camera we need to learn a little about the history first and some of the movers and shakers that made photography into the art we see today. We will be watching the history of photography video and discussing a worksheet about the information you learned.
