The Assignment: Students will create a final watercolor project using a half sheet of Arches water color paper. Students will create a composition with a foreground, mid-ground and background wash with overlapping objects to create depth. The composition should break out in 3 or more areas from the background wash .
Students will be creating a painting in the style of watercolor artist Karlyn Holman. We will be working on developing composition and learning new techniques in watercolor. We will be working on an practice techniques together in class. Students will then move to a larger painting working with nature, fantasy or another theme of your their choice.

Step 1:
Students will use a piece of cold pressed watercolor paper to practice washes, create textures and practice varying techniques.
