Oil paint is a wonderful luscious painting medium that has a slow drying time to allow for easy color blends and layering/ glazing techniques. It can be used as a thick impasto or layered in thin glazes using linseed oil or Liquin. Many artist through out the ages of used it to create some of the most famous works in history. We will be looking at a number of famous painters. We will be focusing on two in particular, David Hummer, Jan Van Eyck and Vincent Van Gogh. Below you will find samples of their work and videos documenting their art and life. Farther down you will find the assignment and worksheets to complete the project.
