Pop Art Assignment: Students will will be studying the work of famous pop art artists and creating a pop art painting using acrylic and collage (optional).
According to dictionary.com the definition of POP ART :
An art movement that began in the U.S. in the 1950s and reached its peak of activity in the 1960s, chose as
its subject matter the anonymous, everyday, standardized, and banal iconography in American life, as comic strips, billboards, commercial products, and celebrity images,
and dealt with them typically in such forms as outsize commercially smooth paintings, mechanically reproduced silkscreens, large-scale facsimiles (fax), and soft sculptures.
Some of the more Famous Pop Art artist of the time were Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstien, and Jasper Johns. We will be taking a look at their work and analyze how pop art would now be related to our current culture.

Students will learn how to use and work with acrylic paint.
Students will study/learn about the work/style of pop art artists Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
Students will learn about color theory and varying techniques used by the pop art artists.
