Welcome to Drawing I: This course is designed to help students develop their observational drawing skills. Students will draw from nature, objects and images. Students will demonstrate different drawing techniques ranging from hatching, stippling and shading. An emphasis on creating forms and contrast will be heavily studied. By the end of the semester students will have several pieces from multiple subjects to start building a portfolio of work.
Learning Targets:
Students will learn how to develop highlights, mid-tones and shadows in 2-D compositions
Students will learn how to develop strong composition by using overlapping, rule-of-thirds & variety in values and shapes.
Students will learn how to create depth through the development of the foreground, mid-ground and background and the use of atmospheric perspective.
Students will develop their observational drawing skills by drawing from still lifes, nature and images.
