We are going to get down to the nitty gritty of how cameras work. We are first going to start with a little history.
In the beginning of this course I am going to take you through the functions of your camera. It is important to understand how they work so you can take crisp and well composed images with great lighting and depth of field effects. I am providing a couple of sites and images below that should come in helpful if you forget or loose your instructions book. If you google your camera model you should be able to find and instruction book for your specific camera.

Below are some examples of functions you will find on your digital camera.
Here are some basic feature icons on many cameras. We will talk about most of them in class. I would ask that you bring your camera from home during this lecture so you can find the functions on the equipment you are planning on using for the class.
This is an example of the knobs and icons on an average point and shoot camera. Some of you have an option to make videos as well. This will come in handy if you choose to make a cinemagraph in class this semester. I will provide the directions for this and HDR (high dynamic range) photos on a different page under the digital imaging I course information.
