Class lecture presentation:
Students will be learning about the artist Shepard Fairey during this unit. Shepard is a print maker and spray paint artist who has strong aesthetics in concern to contrast, shape and pattern. He also uses his work to communicate about the world and what is happening political in our country and others.
Many of you may have seen his work on clothing items or posters. His clothes line brand is known as Obey. We will be using his work as inspiration to create a final stenciled painting of our own communication fashioned after his style. Think about what you want to communicate about the world around you. What social issues do you feel most passionate about? What color scheme will you use to communicate emotion to the viewer? These are all areas I would like you to think about and incorporate into your final piece. Below you will find examples of his art work and resources I will use in class including my power point presentation. Feel free to refer back to any of these as you are planning your final.
