Welcome to Photo I
This course is designed to introduce you to the process of digital photography. You will learn about this exciting medium exploring different programs such as photoshop and lightroom. You will also have the opportunity to learn about digital cameras and how to use a DSLR Canon Rebel with all of the camera functions to help you become a more polished photographer. So let's get ready to dive in!
You will learn about many different aspects of photography during this term. Some of the learning targets we are going to cover are listed below. Art is a wonderful way to express yourself. You will find much of my classroom lectures and videos online, under the photo I tab to the left of this page. Rubrics and additional information maybe found on the very bottom of the web page.
Be creative, try new things, you never know where something might lead unless you do something you have never done before. I look forward to working with each of you. Please feel free to ask questions anytime. I am here to help you grow in your skills and you are here to help me grow in mine. My classroom is a place where we can all be experts and teach each other. We are in this together!
Learning Targets
C.12.1 Use the elements and principles of design in sophisticated ways
Students will understand how to use the rules of composition to create sophisticated images.
A.12.2 Know advanced vocabulary related to their study of art
Students will create digital photographs using a DSLR camera and understand how to use the various functions of the equipment.
Students will use photo editing programs (ex: Photoshop, Lightroom, Pixlr...) to create final images.
C.12.5 Analyze the complexities of nature and use challenging artistic images and ideas as visual resources.
Students will learn how to communicate through the visual medium of photographs.
Students will study the work of various photographers, past and present and critique the work and that of their peers.
Materials needed for course
Following is a list of materials and fees for this course:
Digital Camera with f-stop and shutter speed options. If you do not have a camera, you may check one out for a $50 refundable deposit. All money is returned to you at the end of the term when the equipment is checked back in undamaged.
$5 lab fee to offset printing cost, classroom supplies, etc...
