Now that you have spent some time doing observational and grid drawings it is time to put those skills to your next assignment, Transitional Fantasy. Your next assignment is going to allow you to choose your own subject matter and communication. I have several examples of art work to help with some ideas.

Assignment:
Students will create a 12x18 fantasy drawing using ink or pencil, color is optional. You may use colored markers or color pencils. Subject matter is up to you. You can choose animals, people, nature, fruit or veggies, bugs or whatever your imagine can come up. There are several spectrum books in the art dept you can look at for inspiration. The design needs to incorporate two or more elements that transition one into the other, another way of thinking about it is creating an image that morphs into something else. The background should be clean and the design should incorporate negative spaces of multiple sizes , tiny, small, medium and large. Focus on line details and shape with and area of emphasis and movement through out the piece created with leading lines. Attention to detail and communication is important to the final drawing.
