Goals & Objectives

In planning lessons and units, it is helpful to articulate just what long-range goals (e.g. “enduring understandings”) you want students to aim for, and which short-term objectives (e.g. “memorizing the times table,” or “identifying several crucial battles of the Civil War”) you want students to know by the end of the lesson or unit. Unlike more abstract goals, most objectives relate to specific activities and outcomes, and can be observed and measured.
