There are two banner screens you can use to look up position numbers. NBIPORG and NBAPOSN
NBIPORG
1. Go to NBIPORG in Banner, enter your department's ORG code, and hit go. This shows all of the position numbers associated with the ORG. There are two position types; S for single (full time faculty and staff positions) and P for pooled (students, grad students, temporary appointments, AFT, etc). Tip: If the position doesn't come with PSU-paid health benefits, the position is probably pooled.
2. Hit Filter to start a search query.
3. Tab to the Type box, enter P, and hit go to search.
This will bring up a list of pooled positions from the department. Note the positions will need to be active (A in the status column) to be able to use them.
Knowing the HR naming conventions in the titles is useful here:
G: Graduate assistant; administrative, teaching, and research.
S: Student; regular wage and workstudy.
T: Temporary SEIU.
The next two take a bit of deciphering.
UT: AFT represented.
Adjunct (salaried) teaching: UT Salary Pool <.5
Hourly research: UT Hourly AFT
Salaried research: UT 12m Salary Pool <.5
UU: Unrepresented.
Hourly unrepresented: UU Hourly Wage Pool
Salaried unrepresented: UU Wage Pool
Not all departments have all of the position types listed here.
