Most of the information required for the posting will be found in the formal request approved by the Dean’s office (see Initiate the search)
If this is a new position, you may need to create a new position description (in the Position Management module)
The position announcement should include a brief description of the University and your department. Here is the boilerplate language to describe CLAS: The Portland State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences provides the intellectual foundation for the liberal and professional education of students at Portland State and for the enhancement of the quality of life in the metropolitan area. The College consists of departments across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.
When this action is approved in PeopleAdmin, the Office of Human Resources will generate a posting on the Careers section of their website (see Recruiting).
** Useful tips:
Encourage the use of a few (but not too many) supplemental questions that are relevant to the position. This will allow the committee to ask the candidates specific questions related to their skills, teaching styles, and expertise.
PeopleAdmin accepts letters directly from recommenders (see Faculty References guide). Departments may choose when in the process references are prompted to submit their letters. Consider making your timeline for requesting letters of reference transparent to applicants.
