As the name implies, this form is to request funds to cover costs that cannot be borne by departmental resources. These circumstances may include events such as a faculty member going out on FMLA, a course that is full and has a waiting list large enough to fill a whole additional section, or graders to expand the size of a section.
The process for requesting funds is as follows:
- Explore all available options at the departmental level. Please contact the CLAS Finance Team (clasfin@pdx.edu) if you need assistance with this analysis.
- Can resources from under-enrolled courses be re-directed?
- Could the course be increased in size and put in a larger room?
- Are there other courses available to students to meet their need/requirement?
- Does the department have the financial resources to support the additional costs?
- If, after doing the above analysis, the department does not appear to have the resources to cover the costs, then fill out (below) and submit.
- The Dean's Office will review the request and make a determination.
- The department will be notified of the decision and should proceed (or not) as directed.
