7.2: Hitler's Germany

Berlin, 1938. Hitler addresses the Lustgarten, or “Pleasure Garden,” a park that had been commonly used for political rallies. These rallies were known to draw up to a million people.

Objective:

Students will be able to explain how Hitler rose to power and describe what life was like in Hitler’s Germany by answering questions based off of a presentation and video.

  • Vocabulary: The Weimar Republic, Chancellor, Reichstag, Cult of Personality
  • Directions:
    1. Print or get a copy from Mr. Booth of the worksheet for this lesson.
    2. Paraphrase this definition of cult of personality on your worksheet:
      • Cult of personality: a situation in which a public figure (such as a political leader) is deliberately presented to the people of a country as a great person who should be admired and loved.
      • There is a bonus video on the Beer Hall Putsch (talked about in the presentation) below
