A 9 year old girl named Liesel was sent to Germany after her brother Werner died. This amazing historical fiction “Book Thief” by Markus Zusak explains the hardships of friendships and risks. This book transport you to Nazi Germany with a perspective of a young girl.

Taking place in Germany in 1939 , Liesel learns to read by learning from her accordion playing foster father. Soon Liesel has a new love for books; she loves them so much, Liesels starts to steal them from Nazi book burnings, the mayor wifes house, you name it. When her foster family hides a jew in their basement, Liesels world is closed down. Then again, Liesel learns about the risks you have to make with friendships.

I recommend this book because this teaches the sacrifices of friendship under harsh conditions. Markus is a great author because of his writing.
