This book is called “Catching Fire”. It’s the second book of the Hunger Games series so, if you haven't read “The Hunger Games” you won’t understand “Catching Fire”. “Catching Fire” is an adventure book by Susanne Collins.
“Catching Fire” is about a 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeen. Katniss hates the Capital for making her go into the Hunger Games. And especially making her go in to the games with Peeta Mellark, the boy with the bread.
Peeta Mellark gave Katniss a loaf of bread when she was little. This act gave Katniss hope after her dad died in a mine explosion. She kept her family alive and conquered her worst fears hunting outside District 12’s fences in the woods. Then, after the first Hunger Games she got new fears of the things that happened in the games. Like the mutant wolfs that attacked Katniss and Peeta and the poison berries that were a disgrace to the Capital.
Snow, the Capital president, told Katniss to be aware that her can kill her whole family and all her friends, and even District 12 if she couldn’t stop the uprisings in the Districts. If there was an uprising, someone Katniss knew would get hurt. This made Katniss even more angry with the Capital and she wanted to just kill President Snow once and for all.
This book is for 6th grade level reading so for a 5th grader it is an advanced book. And the author writes the book in a way that you can’t stop reading it.You can learn about the horror, courage, and love someone can contain in Catching Fire.
