Have you ever read fascinating book Fourth Grade Rats by Jerry Spinelli? Well, if you haven’t you’re missing out. Fourth Grade Rats is a realist-fiction book that teaches a very important lesson. It’s about Suds and how he has peer pressure about being a fourth grade “rat” from his best friend, Joey.
In the beginning, Suds is acting like a third grade “angel” with his jumping elephant lunch box and meatless sandwich. After that, Joey was acting like a rat and pressuring Suds to become one because he states that “Becoming a rat, is the first step to become a man.” Suds resists but that doesn’t last for long. I think the theme is to be who you are and don’t act like someone you’re not.
In conclusion, this book is a great story with many bumps and a great lesson. I recommend this book because it has a great plot and the author, Jerry Spinelli, has made many great books.
