Deep Dive Web Case

The most similar product on the market would probably be popsockets. Both the Web Case and the pop socket are ways to set phones down and still be able to view the phone.

Another competitor are smart phone stands for desks. these are more expensive than pop sockets and can be used by any phone as it isn't attached to a phone.

The last competitor are smart phone cases with built in stands. These are still more expensive than the pop socket but cheaper than the web case or the stand.

All of these products would be significantly cheaper than the web shooter. Along with this all these products require a vertical surface to sit on. None of these products have very appealing or eye catching gimmick like the web shooter. This gimmick and the ability for it to be able to rest on more than just a verticle surface will make the product stand out.

Product Positioning

  • high end expensive product due to the cost for research and development along with the probable cost of production, which could be difficult to produce the compound of the fluid, let alone costly
  • niche product to fit a small gap in the market for extremely lazy people would like to just have their phone hang rather than holding it, currently unknown how large this market segment is, costly and necessary market research will be needed
  • can also be sold as a gimmick product that people would want to know how it works cause it would be like a certain copyrighted Marvel character, this might make up the largest selling base of the product, getting a deal with Marvel would be huge and may increase the marketability of the product along with sales as a whole, this deal might also cost money as Marvel doesn't need us to be able to market and make money off of these extremely popular character

Technical Challenges

  • sticky fluid
    • needs to be invented
    • have little to no idea what this fluid might be made of
    • must make sure this fluid is safe to be around people and safe for use
  • shooter
    • need to create a way to shoot the fluid out
    • this needs to work with a compound that does not yet exist
    • just like the fluid itself it must be safe to be used by people, with very little current knowledge this is unknown if that is possible
  • retractable
    • fluid must be able to be taken down by the device itself and not rely on outside help
    • this needs to be integrated with the shooter and work with the currently non existent compound that will be used as the fluid
    • along with the shooter and the fluid, this also needs to be safe for use by humans, with very little current knowledge this is unknown if that is possible

WHM Reassessment - 85/90 - capped at 83% max or 74.7

Competition - 25/30 - meets the standard for 3 or-equal competitors (except missing price for each; just provided qualitative comment that one was more expensive than the other); you would have achieved a higher score if you provided or-equal products that fit your design concept; you only provided phone cases; you could have profiled glue or stretchy adhesives, extension cables that can be aimed and fired (think bank robber movies that carry bazooka guns that fire a hook on the end of a chain to climb over walls, or extension arms with suction cup mounts)

Product Positioning - 30/30

Technical Challenges - 30/30

WHM Summative - 32.5/90 - revise and resubmit for reassessment

Competition - 7.5/30 - at least 3 competitors/ or-equal suppliers; you only have one; need image, web link and description - no change; should be profiles (image, web link and feature/benefit description for at least 3 or-equal products)...or-equal could be glue or stretchy adhesives, extension cables that can be aimed and fired (think bank robber movies that carry bazooka guns that fire a hook on the end of a chain to climb over walls, or extension arms with suction cup mounts)

Product Positioning - 15/30 - 3 IB style evidence-based bullets - these are short headlines without an explanation, supporting evidence or analysis

Technical Challenges - 10/30 - at least 3, each with 3 evidence-based bullets - you have 3 technical challenges....but you really only have a single explanation (evidence bullet) for each challenge - should be 3 evidence-based bullets per technical challenge

WHM Comments - 17.5/90 - revise and resubmit
