Themes Syllabus for Friday, Sept. 7
Opening activity: assigning vocab words, reviewing the square. This should be finished by the end of class on Monday.
Expectations writing prompt. 30 mins!
Think of a time that someone expected something from you, or had high expectations for you. How did that expectation make you feel? Did it have a positive or a negative effect on you? Did you live up to the expectation, or not? Why?
Pointers for writing:
--plan a little first: big or small. Just write a little bit.
--Don’t edit. Just write.
--Once you’ve got the bones down, then you can go back and edit. Printing out a draft and then editing on it in pen is FINE.
--Remember, you’re sharing a story with me. Make it interesting!
Project work:
You should be through step 2 and heading to steps three and four.
Other: If you can’t do anything else, work on your vocab square. Try Merriam-Webster.com as a good on-line dictionary.
